Iara Salerno, a health professional trained at the UNLP, left for the Gaza Strip to join a new mission of the Sumud Flotilla that seeks to bring aid and make the conflict visible.

The initiative brings together about 100 boats and about 2,000 participants from different countrieswith the aim of providing assistance and denouncing the blockade on the territory.
Salerno is graduated from the National University of La Plata (UNLP)is a member of the Provincial Board of Directors of CICOP, is a member of the Socialist Workers Party (PTS) and is the founder of the Health and Care Postwith a career linked to the defense of public health.

Through his social networks, he shared images of the boarding and highlighted the support received: «More than 5,000 people came to say goodbye to us in the port of Barcelona, shouting for free Palestine. In this framework, Salerno maintained that “in a context of genocide against the Palestinian people, where the blockade, bombings and destruction of living conditions are sustained, being part of a humanitarian mission is taking a stand”. Furthermore, he stressed that “International solidarity is more important than ever” and that participation in the flotilla responds to not being indifferent to the situation.
