Alipay+, Ant International’s global digital payments platform, announced today that it will allow international tourists to make payments with a QR code in millions of businesses throughout Argentina. This is possible thanks to its integration with the national interoperable QR payment system (Transfers 3.0), in alliance with PVSthe fintech company specialized in the development of customized payment solutions in Latin America.
By connecting to the national QR system, Alipay+ now allows global travelers visiting the country to make payments simply and quickly through QR codes at merchants throughout the country. This solution, announced this Thursday by the fintech PVS, will be implemented in the coming weeks and will facilitate payments in local currency for tourists who use the company’s application.
A solution that benefits businesses and tourists
This service helps improve the travel experience of foreign tourists in Argentina, allowing them to pay frictionlessly in restaurants, shopping centers and tourist attractions. By using an Alipay+ payment partner app, they can now scan the national QR code displayed at any merchant to make cross-border payments, the same way they do in their home countries.
Currently, Alipay+ connects 150 million businesses with more than 50 digital wallets and global banking applications, reaching 2 billion user accounts . Its network includes merchants connected through more than 10 national QR systems in Asia and the Middle East.
The Argentine payments ecosystem as a basis
Argentina has one of the most advanced mobile payment ecosystems in the world, where QR code payment is a fundamental part of everyday commerce. At the center of this system is Transfers 3.0the national infrastructure for instant and interoperable payments developed by the Central Bank of the Argentine Republic (BCRA), which allows consumers to pay with any participating digital wallet or banking application by scanning a single QR code.

A strategic alliance with regional impact
This new initiative joins Alipay+’s alliance with PVS in May 2026 to implement the cross-border mobile payment service in Argentina and Chile. In addition, Ant International became an official sponsor of the Argentine Soccer Team for the Asia region (excluding the Middle East) in March 2026.
Beyond Argentina, Ant International is expanding its partnerships with global and local payment service providers, fintech companies and digital platforms to expand access to cross-border payments and inclusive financial services for businesses and consumers throughout Latin America.
Along with payment by QR code, the technology NFC (Near Field Communication) Alipay+ allows cross-border transactions thanks to its alliance with Mastercard. Starting with AlipayHK, GCash and Kakao Pay users, NFC payments are now possible at Mastercard-enabled merchants around the world, including Argentina, Brazil, Mexico and other Latin American markets.
