Invited to “Sola en los Bares”, in a deep one-on-one with Karim GonzalezBoy Olmi took time for analysis and reflection. The actor, who performs his one-man show “Boy” at the Teatro Picadero and on national tour, spoke for the first time about his friend and former partner in the Argentine version of The babysitter, Florencia Pena.
Far from joining the superficial criticism, Olmi preferred to break down the incident as a symptom of the current era. For the actor, what happened is not an isolated individual error, but a “misfortune” caused by the system in which we are immersed.

“Media vertigo nullifies our ability to reflect”
As Olmi explained, we live under a “media, communication and technology vertigo” that nullifies our ability to reflect. The actor was blunt in pointing out the danger of immediacy in the media.
“You cannot be in a media outlet and have your words go faster than yourself” he warned. Under his gaze, these types of missteps are systemic accidents in an unforgiving maelstrom: “It can happen to anyone, it can happen to you or me” he admitted honestly.
The manipulation behind the error
However, Olmi’s analysis went beyond professional error and entered the realm of public manipulation. He warned that, often, certain sectors take advantage of these failures to “generate a discourse that already exceeds the anecdote and that has to do with other political interests” .
In this sense, he pointed out that a case like this usually becomes «functional» to “cover other topics” important, such as the acts of corruption that are going through the country.
The personal impact and work consequences
Finally, the actor regretted not only the personal impact in Florence, but also the collateral consequences of this media “paper.” With regret, he mentioned that the most painful thing is seeing how “an entire production was dismantled” and there were people who “he lost his job” due to this incident.
For Olmi, the episode is an urgent reminder that, in the midst of the exhibition, the most important thing is still to rescue our human condition and our ability to be present before speaking.
His artistic present and life with Carola Reyna
In another part of the extensive talk with Karim González, Boy spoke about the risk involved in joining several jobs. He also shared his experience of sharing a house and career with his wife, the actress Carola Reyna.
The actor reflected on the challenges of maintaining a balanced personal and professional life in a medium as demanding as entertainment.
