July 7 is International Soil Conservation Day. Domaine Bousquetthe first Argentine winery with regenerative organic vineyards, celebrates it with a wine that pays tribute to the soils where it was born: Virgen Vineyards Organic Cabernet Sauvignon 2024 .
The main purpose of this date is to raise awareness about the fundamental importance of soil. It is a non-renewable natural resource that guarantees the health of the planet and ensures the sustainability of life on Earth.

The winery’s philosophy: nourish the soil to obtain the best fruits
“By nourishing the soil and treating it with respect, the earth will reward us with its best fruits.” he claims Anne Bousquet . His words express the heart of the winery’s agricultural practices.
In 2022, Domaine Bousquet became the first winery in the country to obtain the Regenerative Organic Certification (ROC) . She is also one of the first four in the world to achieve this. In addition, it has biodynamic certification Demeter for their vineyards.
Practices that revitalize the soil ecosystem
One of the fundamental pillars of regenerative and biodynamic viticulture is soil health. With this objective, natural processes such as:
- Composting
- Rotational grazing
- Cover Crops
- Minimum tillage
These practices help reduce erosion and the loss of organic matter. They also increase biodiversity and soil fertility.
The result is obtaining healthier grapes. These produce good yeast and, consequently, good fermentation. This avoids the need to make corrections during wine production.
«We must overcome the old idea of the soil as a physical and inert support. The soil is the basis of life, a living and pulsating organism that invites us to listen and honor» explains Irma Remigio, Sustainability Coordinator .
“Today we know that its true wealth is not in the isolated minerals, but in the microbiological network that activates them” he adds.
Virgen Vineyards: the purest expression of terroir
The line Virgen Vineyards is a tribute to the virgin soil that the Bousquet family knew when they arrived in Gualtallary at the end of 1997. At that time, the area was a desert of sand and stones with ideal climatic conditions for growing organic vines.
Today, Gualtallary is considered the birthplace of the best high-end wines in Argentina.
Virgen Vineyards is made up of organic wines, no added sulfites y vegans. It is the first line of wines certified by the USDA outside the United States.
“I believe that the life that Virgen Vineyards Cabernet Sauvignon Organic 2024 has speaks precisely of the notes transmitted by the living soil that we have” reflect Rodrigo Serrano Alou, Oenologist of Domaine Bousquet .
