Yurii Muzyka He is 34 years old and will spend at least the next 30 years in prison. A London court found him guilty of murdering Halyna Hoisan29, on the night of August 27, 2025 in his apartment in the Greenwich neighborhood. The conviction closed a police investigation that exposed, with disturbing precision, how a man planned the crime weeks in advance.
Halyna had ended the relationship and in April 2025 moved out of the home she shared with Muzyka in Kingston. That decision unleashed a harassment escalation: He appeared at her new house, stole her phone, called her mother with threats and placed a tracker on the tricycle of their daughter, a four-year-old girl, to monitor Halyna’s movements, as detailed by the London Metropolitan Police in a statement.
On August 20, a week before the crime, Halyna obtained a restraining order against Muzyka. The copy of that document was found on his kitchen table, next to the box of the knife he bought that afternoon for £34.99.

The level of premeditation that the researchers found
The analysis of Muzyka’s cell phone revealed a methodical and calculated preparation. In the lead-up to the crime, his phone contained ten images of spyware, 44 of masks, 186 of human anatomy – specifically the heart and chest – and 261 of knives. The location of the six stab wounds that he inflicted on Halyna was consistent with that investigation: they were directed at the areas with the greatest potential for damage.
The afternoon of the crime, Muzyka recorded a video for her mother in which she complained that Halyna was dating other men. Security cameras captured him leaving his house almost the same moment Halyna’s date arrived at her apartment. For the researchers, this coincidence of times, added to the recorded videos, indicated that Muzyka knew of the other man’s presence and acted accordingly.

Muzyka kicked in the door of the Tyler Street apartment armed with a knife and chisel. He stabbed Halyna six times. She died at the scene. Their daughter was asleep in the next room. After the attack, Muzyka stabbed himself and was taken to hospital, where he was arrested. When questioned, he took no responsibility: he blamed Halyna for moving on with his life.
Before being arrested, He recorded a video next to Halyna’s body while she was dying on the floor and sent another message with a video to his mother.
«Halyna’s murder was an act of appalling cruelty. Muzyka robbed a daughter of her devoted mother and parents of their beloved daughter,» said Detective Chief Mark Franklinwho led the investigation.

On May 22, a jury found him guilty of manslaughter and carrying an offensive weapon. On May 29 he was sentenced to life sentence with a minimum of 30 years of effective compliance.
Halyna’s family thanked the Metropolitan Police and the Crown Prosecution Service for their work. «Halyna was a deeply beloved daughter, mother and friend.whose life was taken in a cruel and senseless act of violence,» they said in a statement, and asked for privacy to grieve.
