Joaquin Sabina He is going through a very different stage than the one he experienced during almost five decades of his career. After retiring from the stage on November 30, 2025, the 77-year-old Spanish singer-songwriter assured: «I am living a few days, a few months and a few years that I had never had in my life, without an agenda, without commitments, with nothing to do, returning to dedicate time to my friends and my loves, who were very abandoned.«.
In an interview with Carlos of Love to RTVEthe artist reviewed different aspects of his entire life and, among other things, left a phrase that quickly caught the attention of not only his fans. «I haven’t been a good son, maybe not a good husband, I don’t know if I’m a good father, But I have been a good friend,» he stated when talking about the place that friendship occupies in his personal history.
His words also served to reflect on the passage of time, artistic creation and the stage he is going through after saying goodbye to tours, although without completely abandoning his connection with music.

The conversation also revolved around memory and people who are no longer here. The musician especially remembered several deceased friends and mentioned the relationship he built with great figures of literature thanks to music.
«At this age my sentimental memory is more in the number of friends who are no longer here, who are no longer alive. The songs have made me be very close friends with Gabriel García Márquez and Vargas Llosa. I remember them a lot,» said Sabina.
Also, under that context was when he claimed friendship as one of the aspects of which he feels most proud. As he explained, «there are two people who have at some point been my teachers and dearest friends, who never cry. I have seen both of them cry with a song of mine, ‘De purísima y oro’. His view on music, time and personal decisions
