The month of May begins with an agenda full of rate updates that will put pressure on the cost of living in the City of Buenos Aires. After an April of relative calm in some sectors, the combination of inflation and subsidy cuts once again moves the board of monthly fixed expenses.
Transportation: Buses, Subways and Tolls
One of the most direct blows to the daily pocket will be transportation.
- Collectives: The minimum ticket in the AMBA rises 5.4%. In CABA, the section from 0 to 3 kilometers will cost $753,74while the longest routes will exceed the $960.
- Subway: Traveling on the subway network with the registered SUBE card will have a value of $1.490. For those who do not have the nominated card, the cost skyrockets to $2.369,10.
- Tolls: The Buenos Aires highways (25 de Mayo, Perito Moreno and Illia) also adjust their tables. During rush hour, the passage on the main highways for a light car will reach $6.121,62.
Health and Network Services
Private medicine and basic services are not far behind:
- Prepaid: Companies in the sector will apply increases between 3% and 3.9%. This adjustment will also be reflected in the co-payment values.
- Water (AySA): An increase in the 3% monthly. In high-income areas, the average bill without taxes will be around $35.325while in middle zones it will be located near the $32.000.
- Luz: In the AMBA, the new tariff table for May includes an update for distribution costs and changes in subsidy levels, which will translate into a variable increase depending on household consumption.
Telecommunications
Mobile phone service also adds pressure. Movistar, for example, has already notified its customers about an increase in 3,5% in their plans starting in the first days of May, a trend that is expected to be replicated by the rest of the operators.
