Higor William Diniz Ferreira He is one of the many people who, on Saturday, June 13, was waiting to do a jump bungee jumping from the Puente of Skeleton, Saint Paul.
However, he did not manage to do so, because María Eduarda Rodrigues de Freitas, a participant of 21 years who was ahead of him in line, died after being thrown into the void without safety ropes placed.
Recently, Ferreira gave his testimony to a media Brazilian. He maintained that he should have been in Rodrigues’ place and that, after the accident, the attitude of the employees was very striking.
A delay that saved his life
Higor Ferreira, a witness to the death of the young woman who fell to the ground from the Skeleton Bridge, told g1 that he should have jumped in Rodrigues’ place, but that he did not manage to arrive at the activity in time.
«It was lucky. It should have been me, because I would have had to leave the house at 6:00 to go there. However, I was late and left at 6:40. The difference between her and me was about five or ten people. That was how long I was late. The time she was in front of me,» he explained.

Ferreira stated that he went to the place with a friend and that he did not know the young woman. He also added that he hired the company in charge of the jumps after seeing advertisements on the web.
Furthermore, he stated that he had witnessed other jumps before the accident, and that the safety equipment was constantly checked, although this was not the case in Rodrigues’ case.
«All the guys checked to make sure everything was correct, but they didn’t check the woman’s. There were three guys, and all three of them ignored the fact that she had been thrown like that,» he said.
The surprising attitude of one of the instructors: «He left before the police arrived»
Like other witnesses, Ferreira stated that at least one of the employees fled the site after the incident.
«The boy, the second one behind, the one who throws, puts his hand to his head, gets up, gathers his things and leaves […] The guy even left before us. Before the police, firefighters and ambulance arrived,» he specified.
This account coincides with that of the Military Police, which maintained that two of the six arrested people fled immediately after the accident and were later located in a wooded area.

The men who appear in the images are wearing t-shirts from the companies Entre Cordas and Ih Voei, which, according to g1, have not yet provided answers.
For his part, Rafael Gomes dos Santos, the lawyer representing the three detained people, declared that rope jumping is not regulated, but neither is it prohibited. According to him, similar events have already taken place on the Skeleton Bridge without intervention from public authorities.
