Former Ushuaia Combatants issued a statement rejecting the proposal of veteran Alejandro Diego: »Malvinas is not negotiated, it is not divided and it is not handed over.»
The proposal made by war veteran Alejandro Diego set off the alarms at the Ushuaia Ex-Combatants Center. Said project, presented during a conference at the University of Manchester (United Kingdom)promoted a »shared sovereignty» between Argentine territory and England, at the same time that it encouraged the creation of a autonomous province to escape the control of Tierra del Fuego.

The project generated an automatic repudiation by the Center of Ex-Combatants of Ushuaia, who declared that it is “a roadmap for final surrender” and of a experiment to measure tolerance thermometer of the Argentine people.

The controversial proposal occurs within a context in which the country’s sovereignty has been explicitly put in check: after the authorization of US troops on Argentine soil (without the approval of Congress), details were recently revealed about an agreement between the Argentine Navy and the Fourth Fleet of the United States Southern Command.
This agreement authorizes the active participation of North American ships, aircraft and intelligence systems in monitoring and patrolling tasks over the strategic and coveted waters of the South Atlantic under the pretext of «combating Chinese fishing.»1
