Paula Menezes: “For us the Argentine market is the most important thing we have today”

Within the framework of the WTM Latin America 2026, Paula Menezes, Destination Manager of Civitatis for Brazil, spoke with our special envoy and revealed that Rio de Janeiro had a record year for Argentine tourists. “For us, the Argentine market is the most important thing we have today,” he stated, highlighting the innovations in security, unique experiences and fashionable destinations to welcome travelers from the neighboring country.

Rio de Janeiro record and with more security

Menezes celebrated the excellent moment of Rio tourism: “We had a record year in Rio de Janeiroespecially from the Argentine market.» And he added a key piece of information for those who have doubts due to security issues: «We have a lot of police everywhere. Security in Rio is now very good for all countries.”

Innovative experiences beyond the sun and beach

The executive highlighted new attractions that seek to diversify the tourist offer. “I want to wear everything we have again, everything that is hyped, everything that is fashionable,” he said. Among the news he mentioned:

  • Drone in the Rocinha slum: an experience that allows you to explore one of the most emblematic communities in Rio from the air.
  • Tourist activities in resort areas: so that the passenger “is not just stuck there” and has options to explore.

Fashion destinations throughout Brazil

In addition to Rio, Menezes promoted other centers that strongly attract Argentine tourists:

  • Beto Carrero and the parks in the south of the country.
  • Porto de Galinhas (Pernambuco).
  • Lençóis Maranhenses (Maranhão).
  • Bonito (Mato Grosso do Sul).

“They are fashionable areas,” summarized the Destination Manager, inviting Argentines to discover the diversity of landscapes and experiences that Brazil offers beyond traditional beaches.

An open invitation

“Argentines are very welcome,” concluded Paula Menezes, making herself available to travel operators and agents to continue developing the tourist flow between both countries.
