They restricted the sale of CNG in La Plata due to the increase in consumption in the cold wave

Stations with interruptible contracts stopped selling CNG to prioritize supplying homes. Taxi drivers and taxi drivers, among those most affected by the measure.

The cold wave that is passing through the region began to have a full impact on the energy system and there are already restrictions on the sale of GNC at different service stations La Plata, Berisso and Ensenada.

The measure especially affects stations that operate under “interruptible” contracts, a more economical supply scheme but which can be suspended at times of high demand to guarantee home supply.

The situation generated concern among workers who depend on fuel daily, mainly taxi drivers and taxi drivers, who warned about the difficulties in continuing to provide service.

Restrictions due to increased consumption

According to reports, notifications began to be sent this Thursday and the stations reached will no longer be able to supply CNG until further notice.

From the distribution company Camuzzi They confirmed that the decision responds to the strong increase in residential consumption as a result of the low temperatures recorded in recent days.

Within this framework, gas supply for homes and essential users is prioritized, while stations with interruptible contracts are temporarily left out of the system.

Which stations continue to sell CNG

Despite the restrictions, there are still some stations enabled to fill CNG in the region, although they operate with limited daily quotas.

In The Silverthe stations located in:

  • 137 y 529
  • 72 between 131 and 132
  • 520 between 161 and 163
  • Centennial Road and 403

In Berissothe station located at 158 N°200 continues to operate, while in Ensenada 122 and 47 remain enabled.

However, all of them work with supply limits and once the daily quota is exhausted, they must suspend sales until the next day.

Uncertainty over the continuity of the measure

From the energy sector they indicated that the situation is analyzed «day by day» and did not rule out that the restrictions could deepen if temperatures continue to drop.

In addition, they pointed out that there is no specific date for the total normalization of the service in the affected stations.

The measure once again highlights the pressure that polar waves generate on the gas distribution system, especially during days of record consumption in the region.
