This morning there was a traffic blockage on 7th Avenue by workers from the Ministry of Public Works of the Province of Buenos Aires, who are demanding joint compensation due to the loss of purchasing power. We interviewed Gustavo Del Giorgio, general secretary of AEMOPBA.
A new salary conflict was the epicenter of 7th Avenue today. This time, workers from the Ministry of Public Works of the Province of Buenos Aires (located at 7 between 58 and 59) demanded sectoral parity.
According to Gustavo Del Giorgio, general secretary of AEMOPBA, the largest union of the four that make up the Ministry, since the year 2021 that there are no sectoral joint ventures:
»We are in a process since we have been in a state of permanent assembly for more than two months, almost three. We have been demanding that they grant us sectoral parity. We are not having a response in what is in the area of general parity», says Gustavo.
»In this framework, we have decided with our colleagues, in a general assembly by unanimous decision, to demand that they open the sectoral partnership, a commitment that the province had in 2021… indeed, it was never fulfilled».
Gustavo declares that currently »an average basic salary surrounds 260/270 thousand pesos. Incorporating some other additions, such as seniority and some decree, it must be in the order of the 800 thousand pesos. But there we have a sum there as a specific jurisdiction that is given by the public works bonus, which is 3% (law 14052)».
»If we did not have that bonus, it is clear that our salary is very low. It is a salary that even incorporating the bonus does not cover the basic family baskettoday at $1,494,000 according to INDEC figures. we do not arrive».

»THE SALARY CAN NO LONGER WAIT»
Meanwhile, a new call to update bonuses is expected which, if approved, would come into effect from August. »We are asking to be able to return to having what was external financing, something that we had as a ministry, which was obtained by the management of María Eugenia Vidal, and from that moment to date we have never been able to recover it».
»In that sense we are trying to make the increase a significant increase based on the bonus that we already have today», the secretary tells us.
With respect to the removal of the co-participation of the provinces by the national government, Gustavo maintains that »It is understandable, when the province argues to us that there is a drop in the level of activity, in its own collection, when there are national funds that do not come, it is understandable, one does not ignore it. But the reality is also that the salary can no longer wait».
»What we ask of management is to sharpen its ingenuity, it has to work on the needs of the workers, because today they cannot be postponed. We have endured and accompanied everything we could, but today we do need a response from them.».
